If they want you to dance the choreography your own way and with your own flavour they’ll tell you. Over the course of what is amorphously called TV’s mid-season, Dance War will be joined by Bravo’s Step It Up, ABC’s third entry in the dance competition genre, All the Right Moves, and MTV’s Dance Crew, co-produced by American Idol’s Randy Jackson. It’s heartening to watch this film and see b-boys all over the world endure a weeklong Battle Of The Year camp to compete for the title of the planets best b-boy. Without these fundamentals, you may never truly grasp what makes up a proper dance.
Not dancing how they want: If you’re a dancer whose style isn’t sexy but they ask for sexy, then dancing ghetto style like you’re about to beat someone up won’t replace what they want. Ballet started as the dance interpretation of fencing and over the centuries morphed into what it is today.
There are also DVDs and tutorials on sites such as YouTube that can help you with these types of moves. Shows such as "So You Think You Can Dance" are consistently filled with contestants who have or are still attending ballet school. If you’re a good dancer, remember how hard it was to begin with and don’t laugh at newcomers or who aren’t as good. Don’t think that you can just sit out and don’t need to practise, practise makes perfect. Is it any wonder why little girls (and boys) find themselves drawn to the beauty of dance in a world that sometimes seems so drab and harsh in comparison? Give a child a pair of ballet shoes and access to some basic classes and they are on the way to their own private dream come true, regardless of whether they become famous, world renowned dancers or not. This activity is one of the few things available to just about anyone. Underground dance studios are not necessarily any better, sometimes they are better, sometimes their standard is worse or just less polished. This is not to say that the type of dancing you see in clubs is bad, just that they are really an offshoot of these other dance styles.
